Review of Communities and Electoral Arrangements - Draft Proposals
Monmouthshire County Council has a duty under the Local Government Act 1972 to keep under review the community boundaries and electoral arrangements within its area.
To that end, the Council agreed to commence a review of the communities and Electoral Arrangements in July 2012 and appointed 9 County Councillors to a politically balanced working group charged with developing the proposals. The working group drafted a Terms of Reference to be used in the review which was agreed by Council in November 2012. From the 1st December 2012 the Council commenced a consultation period inviting stakeholders to submit representations to the Council to be used when formulating the draft proposals. Public seminars were also held to discuss the arrangements with local representatives and residents. Following the close of consultation, the 9 working group members have developed the draft proposals, in conjunction with the representations received, which were approved by Council on the 21st November 2013. The draft proposals are available for consultation from the 2nd December 2013 until 28th February 2014. |
